Kosova Anthropologica joins global conversations on Open Access

24-10-2025
Kosova Anthropologica Editor-in-Chief, Arsim Canolli, was invited to participate in three major Open Access events held during International Open Access Week 2025.
  • He was first invited to the Open Access Journals Collective Board Meeting, a new global initiative set to officially launch next year, aiming to strengthen collaboration, visibility, and sustainability among open access journals worldwide. Kosova Anthropologica has applied to be a member.
  • Dr. Canolli was also invited to the “Who Owns Our Knowledge?” event hosted by the University of Michigan Press, where he joined Dr. Nwachukwu Egbunike from Pan-African University Press (Lagos, Nigeria) in a rich conversation on open-access publishing in their respective countries, sharing experiences and challenges.
  • Finally, he participated in the webinar “Mainstreaming Diamond – Regional Perspectives, Shared Futures,” organised by the Open Library of Humanities (openlibhums.org). The event convened key voices from the diamond open access (DOA) publishing community to explore how diamond OA can move from the margins to the mainstream.
Across these events, Dr. Canolli presented Kosova Anthropologica, emphasising its mission as a Diamond Open Access journal free for authors to publish and free for readers to access. He also announced that the University of Prishtina will transition its entire publishing programme to a full Diamond Open Access model starting January 2026, marking an important milestone in Kosovo’s commitment to open, equitable, and globally visible scholarship.
